  1. donated batteries and flashlights.

  A Different JW Viewpoint

  i have seen reference here to some of the posts on witnessesonline.com (wol) in response to the horrific events of yesterday, september 11, 2001.. please allow me to express a few different thoughts.. first of all, what happened yesterday was, just as president bush described it, despicable.

  in making this attack, the attackers showed complete and utter disregard for human life.

  those who commandeered the plane, knowing their ultimate goal, had no consideration for their own lives.

  Nicodemus it's obvious that your personal experience doesn't count, niether does mine, because all these folks know better. I bet they were real characters when they were Witnesses. I've begun to wonder if its mostly a matter of environment.

  i received the following message from australia, given the content of some of the postings here i think you'll find it interesting.

  there were sixty names following the message, as far as i know they are all witnesses.

  i haven't listed the names for obvious reasons.

  for far too many years we americans have paid our taxes and gone about our peaceful lives believing we lived in the best and safest country in the world.. september 11, 2001 claimed the title of the day that will live in infamy.

  the attack on pearl harbor must now relinquish that title, as tuesday's attack was undeniably worse than that military attack on a naval base.

  millions of people watched in horror as the second plane crashed into the world trade center tower on live television and thousands of innocent civilians-americans-died before a worldwide audience.. terrorist hijackers, some receiving their pilot training in america.

  Very small nuclear weapons are very sophisticated, unlikely that bin Laden, even with his money, could build one. I have heard that seven have gone missing from Russia in the last few years, maybe he could purchased one. However, given the mentality, if he had one he would have probably already used it.

  I'm not a liar, whether you believe me or not is completely up to you. I recieved the e-mail about ten minutes ago.

  I would have to suggest that most people tend to see their personal experiences as representative, regardless of what they are, and they are especially locked into that view point of it supports their current actions or feelings. I find it telling that your first instinct is to call me a liar.

  My experiences have been different than yours, evidently. I'm sure you can find many, many Witnesses who would see their experiences as closer to mine than to yours.

  In my opinion, the bulk of people that post here are probably not representative, past or present, of most Witnesses. Their current viewpoint is based on their own paradigms. That can produce disquieting results, at least that's the way I would view the current pattern of rather goulish Witness bashing based on this unspeakable tragedy.

  offering prayers for all the victims.. will even a single kingdom hall join them?

  The victims and their families were mentioned in prayer at my Hall tonight, there was not one mention of how we could work this into the field ministry, just repeated comments about what a terrible tragedy it was. Some of you guys are being consumed by your own hate.

  What I heard the JW's say in light of this tragedy

  okay, i know (or want to believe) that not all jehovah's witnesses are this calloused.

  at least i hope not.

  there are some good, caring people, but here are some stark contrasts i've observed today that remind me of how glad i am that i'm not part of such an overall unloving group of people.

  I went to the meeting tonight and all I heard was what a terrible tragedy it was, various versions of that, how sad everyone must feel about these terrible events, that from the platform. The plight of all, including and primarily non-Witnesses, was mentioned in prayer. I didn't hear one inappropriate comment such as those being mentioned here. Maybe the on-line Witness community is not so representative.
